             Our Mission 

To empower mental health consumers with severe and persistent mental illnesses  to lead active lives in the community by providing a safe and supportive environment with opportunities for personal growth through meaningful activities and interaction with others.

 Paradise Center is a consumer-run, peer-support community center for adults with severe and persistent mental illnesses.  Here consumers offer support to one another with our mental illness recovery, a process that restores hope of a meaningful life, despite serious mental illness. 

This support meets a need that professional mental health services are unable to provide.   Empathy, camaraderie,  and acceptance are formally and informally offered by  consumers in groups, meetings, and daily social activities.   Paradise Center is different from other self-help support groups in that we function as a community center, with opportunities for social and recreational activity as part of the supportive atmosphere.  Most of our members, because of the chronic nature of our illnesses, have experienced impairments in our social functioning.  Without the opportunities that Paradise Center offers, most of our members would be isolated and without friends or support. 

We help members to integrate into the community through involvement in outings and other community events.
